Ohlalà! is a new Francophone Film Festival held this year for the first time in Barcelona, from March 1 to 8. The goal of the festival is to offer the city a selection of the finest Francophone Films never shown here before! The official section of Ohlalà! Francophone Film Festival offers 10 works of fiction, documentaries and animations from French speaking countries such as France, Senegal, Belgium, Tunisia and Switzerland, subtitled in Catalan and Spanish. You will enjoy author’s cinema with experience in the main international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin or San Sebastián and will see see how current issues are treated around the world from a different approach. The stories narrated include various portraits of women committed to struggles, this feature connects the Ohlalà! Francophone Film Festival with the International Women's Day. Directors, actors, actresses and other film professionals involved in the films will be present at the screenings, which take place at the Institut Francès from 1 to 5 March.
Ohlalà! Francophone Film Festival will also present a retrospective on the French director Cédric Klapisch, widely known for his film L’Auberge Espagnole (2002), a story about Erasmus students set in Barcelona! The films in this section will be screened at the Cinemes Texas from 6 to 8 March.
At Ohlalà! Francophone Film Festival you can discover pieces of different genres such as the rural thriller “Petit Paysan” by the French director Hubert Charuel, recently nominated for 8 César awards from the French Film Academy, either the Tunisian drama “La belle et la meute”, by Kaouther Ben Hania, which addresses the rights of women in the country of the Arab Spring Revolution; or the documentary “L’Opéra” by the Swiss director Jean-Stéphane Bron, which offers us an exciting immersion behind the scenes of the Paris Opera.
